Patrick Mcfarland & Friends

Eclectic is the main word for this fascinating CD! From a beautiful song by Mahler (with renown Mezzo Soprano Marietta Simpson) to a work that ends with "Shave and a Haircut." Many other wonderful music is on the CD, including one by Arne Running that was commissioned for this recording. Colleagues in the Atlanta Symphony are: Christina Smith, Principal Flute, Elisabeth Remy Johnson, Harp and Elizabeth Koch Tiscione.

Gems for English Horn

Our recent release "Gems for English horn" has garnered excellent reviews. This CD opens with a seductive arrangement of the Vocalise by Rachmaninov for English horn and string sextet. The charming selections from The Seasons by Tchaikovsky, originally for solo piano, have been arranged for English horn with Piano by Renate Rosenblatt. The four movements are titled, January (At the Fireside) June (Barcarolle) October (Song of Autumn and April (Snowdrop). The lovely Adagio for English horn and strings by Mozart follows. The very sensuous Ravel composition, Piece in the Form of a Habanera follows. The grand finale to this recording is the Ferlindes/Kraus Concerto in C Major for English horn with orchestra. The finale features a rolicking set of variations on an opera aria by Paisielo that closes in grand "Presto" style. This is a superb addition to your CD music library.

Diversions for English Horn

CD 1 Features Patrick McFarland playing works in various combinations. It opens with the Francaix Quartet for English horn and strings followed by the Shepherds of Provence by Bozza for oboe and English horn alone which you'll find in your Vade Mecum. A rolicky Divertimento for oboe, English horn and bassoon by Graham Powning is followed by the Fantasie Originale by Laillet for English horn and Piano.
